1/35 German 88mm Gun Flak 36 with SSys Wagon - Border BT-044

The Border Model BT-044 1/35 German 88mm Gun FlaK 36 with SSys Wagon is a premium plastic model kit from Border Model, capturing one of the most iconic and feared weapons of the Second World War — the legendary 8.8cm Flak 36 anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun — mounted on its SSys (Sonderanhänger) railway transport flatcar.

The 8.8cm Flak 18/36/37 series was arguably the most versatile and feared artillery piece of the Second World War. Originally designed as an anti-aircraft weapon, the 88mm's exceptional velocity and flat trajectory made it devastatingly effective against Allied armor from the very first engagements in France in 1940. In North Africa, the Flak 36 became the nemesis of British armor at Gazala and Tobruk; on the Eastern Front it halted Soviet tank offensives that lighter weapons could not stop. The Flak 36 introduced a redesigned two-section barrel and revised carriage compared to the Flak 18, improving field maintenance significantly. Both towed and railway-mounted versions were deployed extensively across all theaters. The SSys wagon — a specialized low-profile railway flatcar — allowed rapid strategic redeployment of the gun along the Wehrmacht's extensive rail network, a critical logistical capability in mobile warfare. Border Model's BT-044 captures both elements with exceptional accuracy, combining the full Flak 36 gun assembly with its complete SSys railway wagon and a section of track, providing a self-contained and dramatically staged subject.
