Germany 3.7cm Flak 43 Flakpanzer IV “Ostwind”
The Flakpanzer IV "Ostwind" was a significant development in the German military's efforts to counter the increasing air threat during World War II. Its primary role was as an anti-aircraft weapon, but it also provided protection against light vehicles and minor fortifications.
The Ostwind's design was based on the Panzer IV tank chassis, featuring an open-top, hexagonal turret that housed the 3.7 cm FlaK 43 cannon. Despite its effectiveness, only 44 Ostwinds were completed, with production being carried out by Ostbau Werke in Sagan, Silesia. The Ostwind's combat debut occurred during the Ardennes Offensive in December 1944, showcasing its capabilities against ground attack aircraft.
