The Dragon 6701 M4A1 75mm Early Version represents one of the most important Allied tanks of World War II in its early production form. Produced in 1/35 scale, this plastic model kit faithfully captures the cast‑hull M4A1 Sherman, armed with the widely used 75 mm gun, as deployed by U.S. and Allied forces during the early and mid‑years of the war.
Historical Background
The M4A1 Sherman entered service in 1942, becoming the principal medium tank of the U.S. Army and Allied armored forces. The early M4A1 featured a distinctive fully cast upper hull, providing smooth contours and efficient production. Armed with the 75 mm gun, it was designed to support infantry, engage enemy armor, and provide effective high‑explosive firepower.
Early M4A1 Shermans saw extensive combat in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and later in Northwest Europe, forming the backbone of Allied armored divisions. While later variants received upgrades in firepower and protection, the early 75 mm version played a crucial role in establishing armored dominance during the Allies’ initial offensives against Axis forces.
