1/35 German Railway Gun Leopold – Dragon 6200

The Dragon Models 6200 1/35 German Railway Gun 28cm K5(E) 'Leopold' is a premium 1/35 scale plastic model kit from Dragon Models, the industry leader in 1/35 WWII scale modeling.

The 28cm Kanone 5 (Eisenbahn) 'Leopold' was Germany's most successful railway gun of the Second World War — a smoothbore weapon of exceptional precision that combined extraordinary range (over 60km with rocket-assisted projectiles) with relative tactical mobility on its dedicated railway mounting. Two guns nicknamed 'Leopold' and 'Robert' by their crews became famous for shelling Allied positions along the Anzio beachhead in Italy in early 1944, firing from concealed tunnels and rail loops that made counter-battery fire virtually impossible. One of the 'Anzio Annies,' as American troops nicknamed them, was captured by Allied forces in 1944 and is now preserved at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. Dragon's 6200 Leopold kit is a massively impressive model — over 35 inches (89cm) long when assembled, with a 43-inch section of railway track included, and the gun mechanism operable to replicate the loading and elevation positions. German artillery crew figures are included in the kit, and the completed model is one of the most dramatic display pieces available in 1/35 scale.
